Harpist Lily Primus is a passionate performer and dedicated teacher. She is the Absolute First Prizewinner of the Third Edition of the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition and the winner of the Mildred Milligan Harp Scholarship Competition. A recent graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, she will be continuing her studies at Rice in pursuit of her Master of Music Degree in Harp Performance as a student of esteemed harpist, Paula Page. Lily was a student of Mary Kay Waddington, founder of the Suzuki Harp School, for thirteen years.
Lily has attended several prestigious summer music festivals, most recently including the Aspen Music Festival, where she performed alongside Principal Harpists from some of the top orchestras in America. She has also attended the Texas Music Festival, Round Top Festival Institute, the Young Artists Harp Program at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and the Young Artist’s Harp Seminar, where she was the inaugural recipient of the Full Tuition Siochi Scholarship.
Lily has been a regular performer with the Colorado Chamber Players and frequently records for Colorado Public Radio. She has served as principal harpist for the Shepherd School Symphony, Chamber, and Opera Orchestras, as well as the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. A rising classical music talent, she is also a substitute harpist with the Houston Symphony, the New World Symphony, and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. “She already demonstrates a mature sense of artistry,” says music historian and critic Betsy Schwarm of TheScen3.
